It looks like Alvaro Morata has no shortage of takers because, after Arsenal, Newcastle United are now said to be interested in signing the forward.

Morata’s two-year loan spell with Juventus has come to an end after the break he will return to Atletico Madrid but even Simeone has no intentions to hold onto him. He’s been a major flop even since his move to Chelsea in 2017 and at Juventus, he managed to score only 32 goals in 92 appearances.

However, his mediocre performances have no effect on his personality because Arsenal have been keeping tabs on him for a few weeks now. Arsenal are yet to make any sort of formal approach but now with Newcastle United joining the race, things are surely going to get interesting.

Can Alvaro Morata succeed in the Premier League?

Morata’s time at Chelsea was a complete disaster and we don’t think he is fit for Arsenal as well.

The Gunners have narrowly missed on Champions League football and next season, they will need a striker who can score at least 20-25 goals in the whole season. Also, since Lacazette has now left, Arsenal’s new centre-forward will have to play week-in-week-out, and he will be expected to perform each time.

At Juventus, Morata might have started 26 league matches last season but he had managed to score only nine goals.

However, he might be suited for a club like Newcastle United who are just starting to dream big and will take a few more years before they can become serious top-four contenders.

Eddie Howe has done some wonderful work in the second half of last season and he has the ability to bring the best out of someone like Alvaro Morata. Also, at St James’ Park, Morata will be able to play with very little pressure.

Will Arsenal make a serious approach for the ex-Chelsea man?

We really don’t see Arsenal making any sort of formal bid for Alvaro Morata. He’s someone who the Gunners have locked into but that’s about it.

Arsenal are very much focused on signing Gabriel Jesus and the Man City man will be a much more pragmatic signing for them. Even if they somehow fail to land Jesus, Mikel Arteta will shift his focus to a player like Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison.

Newcastle United though are much more likely to make formal approaches and we don’t think Arsenal will even try and put up a fight.
