Chelsea and Spurs are both in the hunt for new players this month and one of them could be Amadou Diawara – as per reports.

Amadou Diawara joined AS Roma last summer from Napoli and after warming the benches for the first couple of months, the player has finally started finding his feet at the club.

Now though as per reports, both the London clubs are interested in signing him and have sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old in action.

A couple of days ago, the player had claimed that he had the utmost faith in his manager and was looking to stick around.

“Certainly Fonseca gave me a big helping hand,” he told Roma TV.

“I arrived this summer and I had to wait a bit before starting to give consistency in my performances. In the meantime, my teammates have helped me a lot.

“I feel the confidence of the coach. In fact, when I got injured he immediately sent me a text message and I’m not going to disappoint him.”

But this statement was made before Chelsea and Spurs had been linked with him so it will be interesting to see just how this pans out and whether the two Premier League sides are actually interested in signing him this month or not.

Amadou Diawara plays in central midfield and right now the Blues have a number of players who can play in that same role meaning it wouldn’t be a big loss for them in case they miss out on him.

But Jose Mourinho is working with a really thin squad as Mousa Sissoko and Ndombele have both been ruled out with injuries which means the Spurs boss is badly in need of fresh players this month.
