Rangers FC brought in Andy King on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Leicester City during the summer transfer window.

But now it looks like the 31-year-old could be on his way back to the King Power at the start of the new year.

Gers manager Steven Gerrard has hinted that the central midfielder could be on his way back after failing to break into the first XI during the first half of the 2019-20 season.

“We’ll make a decision in the coming days with Leicester and his reps and we’ll respect Andy and do what’s best for him,” he said, as quoted by the Glasgow Times.

“We’re in talks now with Leicester and his reps to find the best solution. He has obviously been frustrated with his game time here, which we respect.”

“He has been the ultimate professional and has gone above and beyond in this dressing room in terms of how he has approached it and gone about it.

“I haven’t been able to give him the game time he would have liked but I made it pretty clear to Andy when he came it would be tough and a challenge for him to get an opportunity so it was one we were both keen to explore to see how it would work out.”

The 31-year-old has featured in only two Premiership games so far this season which is a clear indication that the player as no place in Steven Gerrard’s plans right now.

So naturally, instead of paying his loan fee, the Teddy Bears think it would be better to send him back to England to his parent club.

But what remains to be seen is what Leicester actually do with him once he returns back.

Andy King has been with the Foxes since 2004 but he’s never quite been able to break into the first XI. Last season he was sent out on loan to Derby County and many believe that he could once again head back to the Championship in case Rangers decide to send him back.
