Andy Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City back in 2017 and the left-back has gone on to become one of the best bargain deals of the decade.
The Reds paid around €9 million for the services of the Scottish international and right now, the 25-year-old is one of the best full-backs in the whole of Europe.
Last season, Andy Robertson played in 48 games across all competitions for the Anfield outfit and he ended the season with a monstrous 13 assists.
And given that he is just 25 years old, the Scottish international has been expected to be the first choice left-back for Liverpool for a number of future seasons.
But now, Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he might just head out into the market to bring in a backup to Andy Robertson this summer.
“We will see. It’s not a yes, not a no,” said Klopp.
“I have said already we have to think about everything and at the end maybe we do nothing.
“I can imagine we have a look at all the things around us. Of course, we lost a left-back (in Moreno), but today we saw two pretty young ones, and James (Milner) played it. We will see.”
Liverpool had Alberto Moreno as a back-up left-back last season but the Spaniard has been released by the club this summer which means bringing a back-up to Andy Robertson is kinda a necessary – especially after there was a panic regarding him having a minor operation.
Andy Robertson had an operation in his hand after an infection which meant he had to be sidelined for a couple of days. But immediately there were rumours and gossip regarding the extent of the rehab period.
But thankfully, Jurgen Klopp took control of the situation before things could get out of hands.
“It’s unlucky, he got bitten by something not so good – not a dog, I think it was a spider or a mosquito – and it got infected,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com.
“It’s not a massive problem apart from throw-ins!
“He should be back in training in a couple of days. The rest is good, he could do all of the programme he had to do.”
