Liverpool suffer yet another injury blow as this key player is ruled out for the Ajax and Chelsea games

Liverpool take on Ajax in their second group game of the Champions League this week and Jurgen Klopp has revealed that full-back Andy Robertson will miss this game.

The manager already has a long list of injury absentees and now Robertson’s name has been added to that list after he picked up a knee injury. He was seen at the club’s training facilities with a knee brace so he means he is not going to make a quick recovery.

The manager has said that Fabio Carvalho has returned to training but Andy Robertson along with Curtis Jones will be unavailable.

“Robbo now is not 100 per cent. [He felt something] very late, 93rd or whatever minute – actually he felt it the next day only. But yeah, he is out for at least, I would say, after the international break,” Klopp said, as per Liverpool FC’s official website.

“Curtis, not available. Fabio trained yesterday normal, will be available.”

Will the injury to Andy Robertson be a big blow for Liverpool?

Klopp is already without some big players like Konate and Jordan Henderson so this fresh injury blow will just add to the woes of the German manager.

However, this might not be the end of the world for Liverpool because Andy Robertson has not been in the best of forms this season.

He’s played in six Premier League games this season but has managed only one assist while his backup Tsimikas has assisted two goals in five games.

With Robertson out, Tsimikas will come straight into the side and since the international break is just around the clock, the Scottish international will get ample time to make a full recovery. Also, Liverpool’s game vs Chelsea next weekend has been postponed.

The absence of a player like him will definitely be a big blow for Liverpool but honestly speaking, with the kind of form he is in right now, we have a feeling Andy Robertson won’t be missed too much.
