Manchester United have suffered a massive injury setback because Anthony Martial has sustained a hamstring tear just before the FA Cup final.

United head to Wembley on Sunday and the club has revealed on Tuesday that Martial is ruled out for Sunday’s cup final.

Martial has been really unlucky with injuries and this is his sixth setback during the 22/23 season. He’s already missed 27 games this campaign and now he will have to watch the final from the stands.

A statement issued by the club read: “Anthony Martial is out of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City due to injury.

“The France international strained his hamstring towards the end of Sunday’s 2-1 win against Fulham at Old Trafford.

“Assessments have since revealed a muscle tear that rules the 27-year-old out of the Wembley showdown.”

Who is going to replace Anthony Martial in the FA Cup final?

With Antony Martial ruled out, Erik ten Hag now has two ways in which he can reshape his starting lineup.

First, he makes a straight swap by bringing in Weghorst up front and this will be massively risky because the 30-year-old has been really poor in finding the back of the net.

The second choice that the Man United manager has is to push Marcus Rashford into the centre-forward’s role and bring in Garnacho on the left flank.

Garnacho provided the winning assist in the previous Manchester derby so he can be the ideal replacement. The young Argentine is blessed with pace so he can be a handful for Kyle Walker.

Antony could be fit in time to feature in the FA Cup final and if this happens the Ten Hag can also use Rashford up front and Jadon Sancho on the left wing.

Anthony Martial is great at holding the ball but in terms of goal-scoring, Man United won’t miss much because the Frenchman has scored only nine goals this campaign. All in all, it is not the end of the world for ETH because he has backups who can come in and fill the void.
