Is this Manchester United misfit likely to sign for Tottenham Hotspur?

Anthony Martial Man United

Manchester United have finally announced the signing of Jadon Sancho and according to The Daily Star, this deal might see the end of Anthony Martial at Old Trafford.

Martial had a really underwhelming 2020-21 season and now that Ole has bought Sancho, Martial could be sold off with Tottenham Hotspur interested in him.

The exclusive report claims: “Anthony Martial’s Manchester United days are all but over after Jadon Sancho’s move to Old Trafford was finally sealed.

“United’s £72million capture of England winger Sancho, 21, which was completed on Friday, makes Martial very much surplus to requirements going into the 2021-2022 campaign.

“United want to off-load the ex-Monaco man as soon as possible in order to start recouping some of the money being blown on Sancho and others this summer.”

Are Spurs likely to sign Anthony Martial?

Spurs could lose Harry Kane during the ongoing transfer window which is why the North London side are actively scouting various attacking options.

And if Kane does move out of the club then someone like Anthony Martial will be the aptest replacement.

Yes, Martial has been underperforming for Manchester United but on his day, he can carve open defences which is why it’s safe to take a gamble with the French international rather than sign an unknown player.

The 25-year-old is currently valued at £40 million and as per the rumours, Manchester United want around £50 million to send him out. A few experts believe Spurs will try and sign the United misfit irrespective of what happens with Harry Kane and if that is the case then the club could struggle to generate the necessary funds.

Also, Anthony Martial currently earns £250,000 per week at Man United and it will be really hard for Spurs to match these wages next season.

All in all, while the Spurs boss would love to have the 25-year-old on his side but we doubt if Daniel Levy has the financial reserves to make this deal happen(if he’s not selling Harry Kane).

Martial joined Manchester United in 2015 from AS Monaco and during his 167 Premier League games, the striker has netted only 55 goals.
