Tottenham Hotspur kept their hopes of a top-four alive by picking up a win over West Ham United and according to Eric Dier, Antonio Conte has given a very particular piece of advice to his players.

Spurs won the match 3-1 and it was a very authoritative performance from the North London side. According to Dier, his manager has advised them to play a lot more aggressive in order to get back to winning ways.

“That’s what the manager wants in the centre-backs, especially on the sides, but from all three of us – to break the lines and be aggressive,” Dier said, as per the Standard.

“We are playing a back five but it is rarely a back five, someone is always trying to break the lines for us to be more proactive and more aggressive and allow us to press up the pitch.

“Cuti [Romero], one of his best qualities is that he is very aggressive and he reads the game very well.

“I can’t hide that [our inconsistency] has been weighing on my mind, it has been weighing on all of our minds and to end that [cycle] now before the international break is really important for us.”

After that loss to Manchester United, Spurs have bounced back with two wins, first vs Brighton and then against West Ham United. Unfortunately, Spurs’ momentum will be halted because the international break has kicked in but there’s no denying that they have made a massive case for themselves in terms of chasing down Arsenal.

Tottenham have been really inconsistent this season and against the bigger sides, their plans have not worked very well. But, Antonio Conte is a master tactician and he knows very well how to strangle and put down the minnows. After the break, Spurs have a series of winnable games so we expect them to fully maintain the pressure on the Gunners.
