Does this ex-Chelsea boss have a pre-agreement to replace Mikel Arteta at Arsenal?

Antonio Conte Spurs

Mikel Arteta is walking a tight rope at Arsenal and according to the latest rumours, former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is set to replace him.

Arsenal have lost all three of their Premier League games this season and if Arteta cannot turn things around quickly then the management will not shy away from showing him the door.

And over the past few days, the name of Antonio Conte has been doing the rounds, more so since he is inclined to return to the Premier League.

Recently, he was in talks to take charge of Spurs but a deal could not materialize and this is the main reason why major sources have been linking him to Arsenal as well. Some rumours have also gone on to claim that the ex-Inter Milan boss has already had a pre-agreement with the North London club.

But Fabrizio Romano has come out to clear the air, stating that no such deal has been agreed upon.

He wrote on Twitter: “There’s absolutely no pre-agreement between Antonio Conte and Arsenal. Conte has no verbal/pre agreement with any club and he’s free. #AFC Federico Pastorello – agent close to Conte since years – confirms to @Freddie_Paxton: ‘Rumours about Arsenal pre-deal are not true’.”

Antonio Conte next Arsenal manager: A real possibility?

Antonio Conte had a really successful season with Inter Milan and one of the main reasons why he left the club was because he thought they won’t be able to compete for trophies this time around.

And if this is true then there’s no way he is going to take up the job at Arsenal, a club who are sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table.

The Gunners have a goal difference of minus nine and they won’t even be playing in Europe this season, not even in the Conference League. So, there’s no way a manager like Antonio Conte will be willing to clear such a mess.

The only way Arsenal can lure in Conte or someone of his stature is if they are willing to pay him crazy amounts of money for the next couple of years.
