Olivier Giroud wanted by Antonio Conte Chelsea

If everything is pointing towards the right direction then ex-Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is set to become the next manager at Tottenham Hotspur.

Daniel Levy has been searching for a successor to Jose Mourinho for some time and after scouting through various options, the North London side have finally settled down on Antonio Conte.

According to talkSPORT, Conte has agreed on terms to become the next Spurs boss but before he has even walked in through the doors, the Italian seems to have already handed in a transfer list to Daniel Levy.

A report in Fichajes claims Conte wants Spurs to sign as many as five new players before the new season begins and all of them happen to be players who he has previously managed.

The possible new manager wants Levy to bring in Milan Skriniar, Christian Eriksen and Ivan Perisic from his former club Inter Milan and he also wants Spurs to get their hands on Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud and Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic.

Skriniar, Eriksen and Perisic have all played under Antonio Conte during the 2020-21 season so it’s quite natural that instead of gambling on unknown players, the manager wants to go with the tried and tested ones.

But we just can’t wrap our heads around the fact that Conte wants to bring in Giroud and Matic(both of whom he’s while in charge of Chelsea).

The ageing Matic and Giroud are nowhere close to their best right now and we have a feeling that Conte might just be adding excess baggage to Spurs first-team by trying to bring in such senior pros for the upcoming season.

The only possible reason why Antonio Conte is looking at Nemanja Matic and Giroud is that both of them are more or less unwanted at their respective clubs so Spurs will have no problem in bringing them onboard.

Getting their hands on Skriniar, Eriksen and Perisic will not be a walk in the park since Inter Milan will not be too keen on the idea of parting with so many players at once, right after they have won the Serie A title.

But the North London side will have no issues in signing Olivier Giroud as he’s set to become a free agent at the end of this month. Nemanja Matic is under contract at Man United until 2023 but we don’t really see Solskjaer making much of a fuss about letting the midfielder leave.
