Manchester United secured a top-four spot by beating Chelsea but that came at the expense of two injuries to Luke Shaw and Antony.

Antony was forced off on a stretcher in the first half after a challenge by Trevoh Chalobah while Luke Shaw did not take the field in the second half.

Man United will take on Fulham in the final Premier League game of the season and neither of these two players will likely be fit for Sunday’s game.

Luke Shaw was replaced by Malacia and even though his injury does not look serious, the defender will not be risked on Sunday.

Antony, on the other hand, was in major agony when he sustained the injury and the winger could be out for a long time.

Ten Hag has obviously failed to provide an update on the extent of his injury claiming that they had to be patient with the diagnosis.

The Man United boss said after the match: “It’s difficult to say. Let’s wait for 24 hours and then we’ll know more.

“I don’t know [about Antony]. Everyone has seen he came off. I can tell you it is serious but we have to wait a minimum [of] 24 hours, then we know probably more about the status of the injury.”

Will Luke Shaw and Antony miss the FA Cup final?

Manchester United will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on the 3rd of June and Luke Shaw should be fit to play at Wembley. The full-back will obviously be protected this weekend because the Fulham game is of no consequence.

Antony suffered an ankle injury back in 2022 and Manchester United fear, the winger has sustained a similar problem.

That injury kept him on the sidelines for two months last season at Ajax and as per rumours, Thursday’s setback could be a recurrence of the same.

If this is true then the winger will miss the FA Cup final but thankfully, he can take the summer break to make a full recovery.

Antony’s absence at Wembley will be a big tactical blow however because he’s the only natural right-sided winger at Man United. Others like Sancho, Rashford and Garnacho all like to play from the left so if Antony is absent then one of the attackers will have to play out of position.

The other option will be to use Bruno Fernandes on the right wing and this shouldn’t be a problem because the Portuguese international has already played out wide this season.
