According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Arsenal have already expressed interest in signing Arda Guler from Real Madrid. However, Manchester United have now also entered the race for the talented midfielder, who has struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu.
The Gunners have held talks with Guler over a January loan move with an option to make it permanent, hopefully at the end of the 2024/25 season. Arsenal are hoping that the talks will be positive but things could take a turn for the worse for Arteta’s team because Ruben Amorim feels that Arda Guler will work well in his 3-4-3 system.
There was a lot of hype when the 19-year-old joined Real Madrid however, he has endured a frustrating time at the Bernabeu. Last season, he still made 12 appearances for the club however, the arrival of Kylian Mbappe has made things much more difficult for him.
So far, he’s played just 265 minutes of league football for Madrid and if things do not get better by the end of December, Arda Guler could very well push for an exit during the January transfer window.
Will Arda Guler join Manchester United or Arsenal?
One would think that Arda Guler would be better suited at Arsenal but his exit is eventually in Real Madrid’s hands and this is where Man United have a slight edge.
As per Defensa Central, Manchester United are ready to offer winger Antony to Real Madrid as part of a swap deal and this decision might push the Gunners down the pecking order.
Antony has been a major flop at Old Trafford but he can be the ideal backup to Rodrygo at Madrid. Rodrygo is the only proper right-winger in the Ancelotti squad and the manager would love to add a backup, especially if he is arriving at the expense of an unwanted player like Arda Guler.
Bruno Fernandes is the only influential No. 10 in the MUFC squad which means Guler can come in and get a lot of game time during the second half of the campaign. Not maybe in the Premier League but the attacking midfielder can certainly start in all those unwanted Europa League and EFL Cup matches.
At Arsenal, he will fight for his place with Martin Odegaard but because Mikel Arteta has a much more set and stable starting XI, Arda Guler will find it a bit tougher to break into the Arsenal first-team.
The Gunners hold a slight advantage because they have already initiated discussions with the Turkish youngster. However, with Manchester United now showing interest, the 19-year-old is likely to consider what Ruben Amorim’s side has to offer before he makes a final call on his immediate future.
