Pundit explains why this team are currently the favourite to secure the final Champions League spot

Arsenal have been on a roll in terms of picking up points in the Premier League and as per Jamie Carragher, they are the current favourites to secure the fourth spot on the table.

The Gunners are currently occupying the final Champions League spot on the table and they have played one less game than the other contenders. They have 54 points from 28 games whereas Spurs, Man United and West Ham all have lesser points despite playing more matches.

Carragher believes that while teams like Tottenham and Man United have individual stars but the cohesiveness of Arsenal could turn out to be the X factor for the Emirates outfit.

“The fight for Arsenal is to finish in the top four,” Carragher has claimed, as quoted. “Forget Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City…the results have been poor against them. It doesn’t matter what your results are like against certain teams, it’s about how many points you get. They’re in a fight with Tottenham, West Ham, and Manchester United.

“The difference is, I think Arsenal are a better team than Manchester United and Tottenham, but they’ve got individuals that can do special things like Harry Kane and [Heung-min] Son or Cristiano Ronaldo.

“But I think the way the team is set up, the togetherness, the way they play – it looks like a proper team. They are a well-coached team and I think they’ll just do it.”

Which team will secure the final UCL spot on the table?

After losing to Spurs, West Ham United are more or less out of the top-four race and even Man United have a very slim chance. The Hammers have fallen down to seventh while United are sixth.

United need to win all their remaining games and then hope that Arsenal and Spurs both slip multiple times. There’s a chance the two North London sides will drop points but the same is true for Manchester United as well. United have dropped numerous points in the previous months and it’s safe to say that consistency is not their metier under their current interim boss.

Arsenal and Spurs, at the moment, look like the two sides who are going to fight it out for the remainder of the season.

The Gunners still have a game in hand so they are in the driver’s seat but they still have to play several of the big teams. They still need to take on Chelsea, Man United and West Ham United and there’s a chance they will stumble in all of these matches.

Spurs, on the other hand, have fairly easy matches and Liverpool are the only top-six they still need to face in the Premier League.

Man United and West Ham United might be fighting for a Europa League spot in the next few gameweeks and unlike Carragher, we think Spurs are going to nick this one primarily because of Antonio Conte’s experience in such high-intensity positions.
