Midfielder Thomas Partey has left for the Africa Cup of Nations which is why the Gunners are actively looking to bring in a new midfielder this month.
Mikel Arteta has also allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles to join AS Roma on a loan deal so they are really thin in the midfield department and according to Fabrizio Romano, the North London side are desperate to add a new midfielder to their squad.
Arsenal have also been linked with players like Wijnaldum and Renato Sanches but it seems like they are looking for a more realistic target, in the form of Danilo.

Who is Danilo?
Danilo joined the Palmeiras’ youth academy in 2019 and since then he has seen a meteoric rise at the club, being promoted to the senior side where he played 22 games in the Brazilian Serie A this past season.
The 20-year-old is currently rated as one of the best young central midfielders so it’s no secret that clubs like Arsenal and West Ham United are interested in signing him.
Can Arsenal or West Ham United sign the midfielder this month?
Arsenal have reportedly offered €20 million for the services of Danilo and this is going to be a major blow for the Hammers since David Moyes is yet to make up his mind.
West Ham have been keeping tabs on the midfielder for a few months now but they are yet to make any sort of concrete move.
The Gunners have moved one step ahead by already making an offer but David Moyes’ side can offer Danilo European football, something which could prove to be a setback for Mikel Arteta.
Despite all this chatter and offer, we don’t think Palmeiras will be interested in cashing in on one of their biggest assets during the January transfer window.
