RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo is one of the priority targets for FC Barcelona but if the La Liga do not act swiftly, the midfielder might end up joining Manchester City.

Barca are trying really hard to land Olmo, but as per a report in SPORT, Premier League champions Manchester City could try and hijack the deal in the coming weeks.

Dani Olmo has a €60 million release clause which is going to expire on July 15 after which it will be almost impossible for Barcelona to get their hands on the 26-year-old because his current market value is €50 million and his contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2027.

Are Manchester City serious about signing Dani Olmo?

Dani Olmo is primarily an attacking midfielder but he can also play as a left and as a right-winger and since 2020, the midfielder has featured in 148 games for Leipzig, scoring 29 and assisting 34 goals.

This season, he has 9 goal contributions in 21 Bundesliga games and Pep Guardiola feels he has the ability to replace either De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva.

KDB has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and even Bernardo Silva wishes to leave Man City for a fresh challenge this summer. So, if either of them was to leave the club before the 24/25 season then City are probably going to try and land Dani Olmo.

Can Barcelona land the midfielder before Man City make a move?

Deco is trying really hard to bring Olmo to Camp Nou and Barcelona seem to be confident that they will be able to trigger his release clause before July 14.

Once the €60 million release clause expires, Man City will easily outbid Barcelona which is why the Catalans want to wrap things up before Pep Guardiola can make up his mind.

Dani Olmo will most likely prefer to play under Hansi Flick because he will be able to get a lot more game time with Barcelona but for this transfer to happen, the La Liga will have to gather €60 million by offloading so players before July 15.
