Man United beat Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday meaning they have now moved three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.

Ole’s men head to Anfield in their next EPL fixture and many pundits are now starting to believe that a win against Jurgen Klopp’s men on Sunday could prove to be the catalyst for Man United picking up their first league title in the post Ferguson era.

The likes of Liverpool and Man City have been really inconsistent during the course of the current season and if Man United can maintain their fine form then experts feel they can  remain at the top of the EPL table till the end of May.

Andy Cole though, has other views claiming that Man United’s current title challenge will fade away pretty quickly but at the same time, Solskjaer has managed to build a strong enough side – capable of rubbing shoulders with the big boys next season.

He told talkSPORT: “Can Manchester United go onto win the league this season? Probably not.

“I think for Manchester United to be top on January 12, like Ole said, is a fantastic achievement considering where they were at a couple of months ago…

“Everyone was saying Ole shouldn’t be Manchester United manager and I think it speaks volumes how he’s turned it around… and how they’ve got confidence to be where they’re at now.

“If you look at the league and teams like Manchester City, who have not played particularly well until about 2-3 weeks ago… they have two games in hand and can go a point behind Manchester United [if they win both].

“The players are just coming into form. I think the players appreciate the quality the players have and the quality Liverpool have.

“And to close the gap in one season, that’s no mean feat, that’s going to take some consistency and those sides are yet to play very well. But to win it this season is going to take some doing. I don’t think we’ve got enough to go ahead and win it this season, but I feel we can look towards next season when I think it could be a lot better.”

We can’t help but agree with Cole on this one since Liverpool and Man City are far superior sides at this point in time while Man United are primarily riding on a wave of pure luck.

Yes, they have been consistent over the past couple of weeks but we do not see them picking up a win against Liverpool on Sunday. Also, Man City have just seven points off the top of the table and they still have two games in hand.
