Toni Kroos’s sudden retirement plan has forced Real Madrid to look for a replacement and as per Diario AS, the Los Blancos have registered an interest in midfielder Joshua Kimmich.

Bayern Munich will have to offload Kimmich if he does not sign a new deal and because he could be available for a cut-price deal several major European clubs have already been linked with him. Barcelona along with Manchester City and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on Kimmich’s contract situation at the club.

Bayern have made it clear that if he is not going to commit his future then they will not hold onto him beyond the summer but with just one year left in his contract, the Bavarians will have to settle for a transfer of just €50-55 million.

This lucrative price tag has already set the alarm bells ringing for three European heavyweights and now it seems like Real Madrid are also looking at Joshua Kimmich as a viable option in the middle of the pitch.

Should Real Madrid challenge the others for Joshua Kimmich?

Madrid have also been linked with Florian Writz but the Leverkusen have set an absurd asking price of €150 million so this deal is not going to happen that’s for sure. They have also scouted Liverpool’s Mac Allister but the Argentine will be a major gamble signing because he’s not had a very convincing season at Anfield.

It will not be easy to replace a player of Toni Kroos’ stature but if Madrid are finding someone whom they can sign for around €50 million then we think, Perez should dive right in.

Yes, Joshua Kimmich is already 29 years old but it will make a lot of sense to sign him at a bargain price rather than spending an absurd amount of money on someone like Writz.

Another major reason why Real Madrid should put in the effort to sign Kimmich is that apart from playing in the central midfield role, he can also play at right-back and this summer Madrid are also hunting for a full-back to replace the ageing Vazquez and Caravajal. This season at Bayern, Joshua Kimmich has played as many as 16 games out on the right-hand side of defence.

Arsenal are probably at the end of the pecking order right now because if the 29-year-old wants to move to England, he will prefer to reunite with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Also, Barcelona will be tempted to sign Joshua Kimmich because he is a very lucrative target given their rather challenging financial condition.

However, if Real Madrid are seriously interested in signing Joshua Kimmich then the midfielder will easily snub all the other suitors because, at the Bernabeu, he will get the opportunity to fill the boots of Toni Kroos plus play alongside the likes of Camavinga and Luka Modric.
