Real Madrid have already been linked with Tottenham’s Cristian Romero and now, according to Tottenham Hotspur News, the Los Blancos have eyed Micky van de Ven as an alternative.

Spurs have made it clear that they have no plans to cash in on Romero this summer which is why Real Madrid are said to be keeping tabs on Van de Ven as an appropriate alternative. However, Madrid aren’t the only club who are interested in the centre-back because Barcelona, PSG and Juventus have also been linked with the Netherlands international.

Nacho Fernández is leaving the Los Blancos for the Saudi Pro League and Ancelotti has plans to bring in at least one new central defender during the summer transfer window. The club has been linked with several top centre-backs in recent weeks and it looks like Van de Ven’s name has just been added to that list.

Can Micky van de Ven be a good enough signing?

Spurs had paid €40 million to sign the defender from Wolfsburg just last season and in just one year, he has become really important to the Postecoglou plans.

During the 23/24 season, he played in 27 Premier League games for Tottenham and he even contributed three goals.

He is one of the paciest defenders in Europe’s top five leagues and the 23-year-old will undoubtedly be a great addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad next season. They already have some top-quality central defenders in the form but Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are already 31 years old so in two or three seasons, Perez will have to start looking for long-term replacements.

Micky van de Ven is shaping up to be a top defender and if he continues his exponential growth then he has all the attributes to become a Real Madrid main-stay.

Will Spurs agree to sell the Netherlands international?

If Ange is not ready to offload Cristian Romero, there’s is simply no way that Real Madrid will be able to get their hands on Micky van de Ven. The Spurs management has undertaken a major rebuilding project under their new manager and the last thing Daniel Levy will want is to break a stable centre-back partnership and destabilise the backline.

He is contracted with the North London side until 2029 so the club neither has the hurry to offer him nor do they need to tie him down with a new and improved deal.

Another reason why Tottenham aren’t going to put Romero or Van de Van in the transfer shop is that defenders Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga are all leaving the club in the summer.

Will Real Madrid still try and go after the Spurs defender?

A team like Real Madrid can always try and force a move by offering an insane amount of money but we think Ancelotti will keep his full focus on Lille Leny Yoro.

Yoro is said to be the primary defensive target for Madrid this summer and we think, if the Los Blancos are seriously considering signing a new central defender then it is most likely going to be Yoro.

Real Madrid do not need to waste time and money on Micky van de Ven when 18-year-old Leny Yoro is ready to join snub top teams like Man Unite and PSG just to play at the Bernabeu next season.
