Arsenal will be able to sign 21-year-old winger Justin Kluivert from AS Roma if they are willing to send Henrikh Mkhitaryan the other way, as per reports.
Mkhitaryan has been out on loan to Roma during the 2019-20 season and he has really impressed during his time in Italy.
Recently, Roma boss Paulo Fonseca had expressed his desire to hold onto the Armenian saying: “I want him to stay and he also wants to stay, however, it should be clear that everything is now on hiatus, and we’ll have to talk to Arsenal. I want to continue working with him because he’s a great player and a great man.”
And shortly after this, the playmaker had urged his parent club to strike a deal so that he can make his loan spell permanent by the end of this summer.
Mkhitaryan had said: “My time in London is over, I hope you manage to find an agreement with Rome because my desire is to stay.”
And now as per reports in Italy, the Gunners might be given an option to land Justin Kluivert as part of a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The report claims: “Mino Raiola is reportedly working on a swap deal that would keep Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Roma and send Justin Kluivert to Arsenal.
“According to Gazzetta dello Sport, talks have taken place between the two clubs this week over the possibility of an exchange, with Raiola mediating as the agent of both players.
“With that in mind, the newspaper claims Roma could pay €12-14m to sign Mkhitaryan permanently, with Arsenal shelling out €35-40m for Kluivert.”
Justin Kluivert moved to AS Roma in 2018 from Ajax and this season he has been more than decent for the Serie A side, scoring four and assisting two goals in 18 top-flight matches.
And since Henrikh Mkhitaryan is of no use to Mikel Arteta, it would be a bonus to sign a someone like Justin Kluivert in exchange of the Armenian.
Alexandre Lacazette might be sold this summer meaning Aubameyang will be playing down the middle next season. And this, in turn means the left-hand side of the pitch will be totally vacant for someone like Kluivert to come in and make his own.
