Arsenal might have to let go of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang at the end of the current season claims Nigel Winterburn.

The duo have been heavily linked with a move out of the Emirates during the past year and in January multiple reports have claimed that Barcelona wanted to sign Aubameyang as a replacement to Luis Suarez.

And according to Winterburn, if Arsenal fail to have a successful season then the attacking pair could very well move for greener pastures in the summer.

“You want to keep all the best players you got, you want to work with them and play with them,” he said, as quoted.

“Unfortunately, players are earning massive amounts of money now and if they want to force a move they will. I’m more interested in the players that come to the club.

“Whether they’re highly rated or not, we’re only interested in what they do when they get here. If you’ve got a World Cup winner with all the stats and everyone is raving on about him.

“And then he comes to Arsenal and doesn’t do very well, we’d all be saying what a waste of time and money that was.”

A successful season would mean either winning a silverware or getting back into the Champions League which both look out of reach for the Gunners right now.

And last week, Eric Abidal has already hinted that Barcelona might look to move for Aubameyang at the end of the season meaning it will really need some convincing from Arteta’s part in order to hold onto Auba as well as Laca.
