Arsenal defeated West Ham 3-0 at home to boost their hopes of Champions League qualifications. Have the Gooners found the right form during the business end of the season? Will it be enough to get them to the Champions League? More importantly, will this performance win back the fans’ trust?

The first half of the match was quite subdued with no major talking points. Even though Arsenal were dominant in the first half but they had no goals to show for it. But in the second half, they came alive. Arsenal found their first goal through Mesut Ozil just two minutes before the hour mark. West Ham conceded the goal due to an error from Fonte who gifted the ball to Ozil.

Ten minutes later Theo Walcott who was captaining the side for the day gave the Gooners a two-goal lead. And finally, Giroud scored a wonderful goal in the 83rd minute to give Arsenal a handsome scoreline and most importantly all the three points.

On the other hand, West Ham’s season is going from bad to worse with each passing game. They have not managed to win a game in over six months of football. And there are just five points clear off the relegation zone. They could have very well been in the relegation zone if Swansea hadn’t lost to Spurs on the night.

After the win, Arsenal are just two points away from fourth-placed Manchester City. And they also have a game in hand. But the Champions League spot is far from safe, as United are breathing down their necks. The midtable standings look more like a spider’s web to be very honest. It’s all too cluttered and messy.

Will the win please the fans?

But having said that, the Arsenal fans are not giving up on their Wenger Out chants. The fans protested in this match also after many of them did not take their seats in the stadium until the 13th minute. 13 seasons is the number of years Wenger has been at the helm of the London club. This comes days after few fans took the protests in front of Arsenal’s training ground. Wenger though ridiculed the situation saying that they were just wasting their time.

But the way the fans are rising up against Wenger, it looks as if just a few good performances will not calm the supporters.
