Premier League side Arsenal have been made a shortlist of as many as six strikers because they have made it a priority to sign a new centre-forward before the 22/23 season.

According to the Daily Express, the Gunners have set the ball rolling in terms of their transfer business as they have already made contact with one of their targets.

Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are likely to leave in the summer so the Arsenal have to find an apt replacement and with so many players on the list, we decided to take a look at how each one fairs.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton:

Everton are performing really poorly this season and there are rumours that the English forward will look for a new challenge in the summer.

The forward has seen his form dip this season which is why he needs to join a new club if he doesn’t wish to fade out completely.

He is one of Everton’s strongest players so the club will not be willing to let him leave but the way they are playing at the moment, they could be forced to sell some of their best players.

Richarlison is already thinking about leaving in the summer so there’s every chance that Calvert-Lewin also does the same.

Darwin Nunez – Benfica:

Nunez has been on fire for Benfica this season, scoring 20 goals in 22 league matches but he has a price tag of 67 million pounds on his shoulders.

The Gunners have already held talks with the player’s agent but this one is not going to be easy because West Ham United and Newcastle United are also keen on signing him.

Victor Osimhen – Napoli:

Osimhen has been setting the Serie A on fire as he’s already scored 25 goals in just 55 appearances for Napoli across all competitions.

The Gunners have been linked with the Nigerian for a few weeks but we doubt if they will make any significant process in this transfer race simply because Manchester United and Real Madrid are also scouting this 23-year-old talent.

Armando Broja – Chelsea:

Broja is currently on loan at Southampton and he’s done really well for Hassenhuttl’s side this season. Chelsea would have cashed in on him in the summer but Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have both been failures this season.

Lukaku and Werner have struggled to score goals which is why some experts believe Thomas Tuchel is inclined to hand a first-team call-up to Armando Broja next season.

Alexander Isak – Sociedad:

The 22-year-old is also on Arsenal’s wishlist but he’s not done particularly well this season plus Manchester United and Chelsea could also make a move for him in the summer.

It makes no sense to go after a player who has such big suitors, instead, Arsenal will be better off focusing on someone else.

Jonathan David – Lille:

The Lille forward is another player who has been linked with the North London side but we doubt if he is a serious target for Mikel Arteta.

Yes, he’s scored 13 goals in 29 league games this season but the Ligue 1 and the Premier League are two very different competitions so it will be a major gamble to put money on the 22-year-old.

They did the same with Nicolas Pepe and the winger has turned out to be a big-money flop for Arsenal.

There will be a gaping hole in the centre-forward region at the end of this season so it’s no surprise that Arsenal are being linked with so many strikers but maybe one or two of these players are serious contenders to replace the likes of Lacazette and Aubameyang.

Gabriel Martinelli could provide as the backup to the main centre-forward next season but some pundits believe Mikel Arteta is eyeing not one but two centre-forwards.
