Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette is likely to leave sometime next year and according to The Sun, the Gunners have already shortlisted some replacements.

Lacazette has really struggled to get game time season and it’s more than certain that Mikel Arteta has no use of him anymore. But once he leaves, the Arsenal boss could try and bring in Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Ollie Watkins as the long-term replacement.

The Sun are claiming: “ARSENAL have already started drawing up a target list of strikers as they prepare for the exit of Alexandre Lacazette.

“And England internationals Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins have both been mentioned as potential replacements.

“He[Arteta] is looking for a young goalscorer with Premier League experience to fit in with his policy of building a squad around youth.

“Both Calvert-Lewin, 24, and Watkins, 25, match Arteta’s criteria but are under contract at their current clubs to 2025 and will not come cheaply.”

Can Arsenal get their hands on DCL or Ollie Watkins?

Arsenal made several eyebrow-raising signings during the summer transfer window but one by one almost all of them are coming good as the season rolls along.

But there’s certainly going to be no doubters if the Gunners make a move for either Calvert-Lewin or Ollie Watkins.

Arsenal are slowly improving their performances and if they can up their game in the next few months then they will be able to attract a lot of the star players.

Having said that though, we don’t think the North London club will be able to sign either Ollie Watkins or DCL during the middle of the season.

Both these players are key first-team players for Aston Villa and Everton so neither club’s manager will risk losing their influential players, especially since they have a long-running contract.

Mikel Arteta will definitely try and cash in on Alexandre Lacazette in January since he’ll become a free agent in the summer but the Arsenal boss will have to wait until the end of the season before he can move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Ollie Watkins.
