Arsenal have been able to secure a place in the Europa League by winning the FA Cup and now manager Mikel Arteta is planning a major overhaul of his squad in order to get in tune with the big boys of English football.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Gunners boss is scheming to offload as many as nine first-team players this summer and this list includes some pretty high-profile names.

The report claims: “Arsenal are ready to cash in on several first-team stars to raise funds for Mikel Arteta’s rebuild.

“The Gunners eased their financial concerns to the tune of £30million with Saturday’s euphoric FA Cup final victory over Chelsea, which booked their place in next season’s Europa League.

“But Arteta knows he must sell players to generate the money required to land his first-choice transfer targets — and he could even offload Alexandre Lacazette or Hector Bellerin if a sizeable offer is made for either player.

“Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sead Kolasinac — as well as Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding, who have played key roles for Arteta in recent weeks — are also in the shop window.

“The club want to sell Mesut Ozil, but their hopes of offloading the former Germany playmaker — and his £350,000-a-week salary — appear slim after his agent insisted Ozil would see out the final season of his contract.”

Can Arsenal attract big players this summer?

It’s clear that if Arteta can manage to sell all off these players then he will have a big enough budget for an overhaul before the next Premier League season begins.

And now that Arsenal have managed to secure Europa League qualification, the club should also be able to attract some big names as well.

Arsenal have been constantly linked with players like Thomas Partey and Philippe Coutinho while they also wish to hold onto Dani Ceballos on a permanent basis.

And so if the club can offload so many players at one go, we don’t see why the manager won’t be able to fulfil his transfer wishes.
