Arsenal continued their stellar domestic form by beating Leicester City thanks to two injury-time goals and at the back of this 4-2 win, the Gunners will welcome Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Arsenal were held to a 0-0 by Atalanta in matchweek one of the UCL and Mikel Arteta’s side will have another tough European night, despite the fact that they will be the favourites to win on Tuesday night.
PSG are unbeaten in their previous 8 away games and are currently sitting at the top of the Ligue 1 table with 16 points from their first six outings. The last time these two sides met in a competitive scenario was back in 2016 in the UCL group stages and both the legs ended in draws.
To be honest, a draw will be a fair result for either side however since Arsenal are playing at home, the onus will be on them to pick up three points.
Arsenal’s team news and injuries:
Zinchenko and Tierney are set to miss out but the manager has dropped hints that Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori are in contention to play in midweek.
The manager said in his pre-match press conference, he said: “We have a training session this afternoon and we have to review a few players, but overall, especially [anyone] returning, there’s nothing to give back.
“[Ben and Riccardo] are the two players that are in contention and we have to review today. We didn’t do any training sessions yesterday. [Riccardo] was a bit emotional after the game, so let’s see how he is today.”
The latest rumours in the press suggest that Calafiori’s injury is not serious but the manager is not likely to risk him on Tuesday night. Jurrien Timber can cover at left-back so there’s no need to push Calafiori back into action so hurriedly.
Arsenal received a major boost because summer signing Mikel Merino has returned to training however, we doubt he will play any part against PSG.
Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard have both gotten starts due to Martin Odegaard’s absence and the duo will be on the teamsheet again.
Bukayo Saka has 6 goal contributions so far this season and the right-winger will hold onto his place because Mikel Arteta does not have an ideal replacement for the England international.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs PSG:
Predicted Starting Lineup(4-2-3-1): Raya; Timber, Ben White, Gabriel, Saliba; Declan Rice, Thomas Partey; Martinelli, Trossard, Bukayo Saka; Havertz.
