Arsenal face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium next weekend and manager Mikel Arteta is expected to see the return of some key players for this encounter.

The Gunners are yet to get off and running in the Premier League and after that 2-0 loss to Chelsea, the pressure is really mounting on Arteta.

Already there have been whispers of ‘Arteta out’ meaning if his players cannot come up with a decent performance against City then the Spaniard’s job will be under real scrutiny.

Thankfully, he should see the return of some really important players, namely Alexandre Lacazette who has now completely recovered from COVID and is back in training.

An official update before the Carabao Cup clash said: “Alex is now back in full training after testing positive for Covid-19 and has returned to full training ahead of Wednesday’s match.”

The Gunners face West Brom in midweek in the Carabao Cup and Lacazette should be named on the bench for this one.

The manager will be hoping to give him some minutes on the pitch towards the end of the game so that he is conditioned properly for the Man City encounter.

Gabriel Martinelli suffered from cramps on Sunday but the club have confirmed that he is fit and available for selection for both the West Brom game as well as the trip to Manchester.

Kieran Tierney is another player who picked up cramps in that Chelsea game but like Martinelli, he too is back to full training.

These three will help Mikel Arteta name a much stronger starting XI than what he had expected right after the defeat to Chelsea. But perhaps his biggest trump card will be playmaker Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard has returned to Arsenal and the club have confirmed that he will be available for selection for the Man City vs Arsenal game.
