Arsenal look kinda stuck with the Thomas Lemar deal as Monaco are trying their level best to hold onto their winger. But as if now it seems that Wenger’s biggest headache is to add another midfielder to his squad before the start of the new season. And it is being reported that the Arsenal manager has shortlisted Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

The 26-year-old Ivorian has supposedly become Wenger’s top priority so much so that the Gunner’s boss is willing to put the Thomas Lemar move on hold in order to sign Seri.

Is Seri worth a place in the first eleven?

As of now, the Arsenal midfield consists of the likes Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and a few others. Now, no matter how much we debate but the bottom line would remain that this is a very ordinary midfield which could use another bit of talent amongst them. And Wenger is hoping that Seri can be the answer to that.

Statistically, also, the Ivorian is at par, if not superior to the current Arsenal midfielders. The 26-year-old scored 7 goals and made 9 assists in Ligue 1 for Nice which is more than the collective efforts of the top 3 Gunner’s midfielders( Coquelin, Xhaka, and Ramsey). The combination of Coquelin, Xhaka and Ramsey have created a total of 72 chances in the whole of the Premier League last season while Seri alone has created 73 chances for Nice in Ligue 1. The midfielder has a pass completion rate of 90 percent according to Squawka and only Granit Xhaka can match that out of the current Arsenal midfielders.

So it becomes pretty evident that this lad can play and has outperformed Arsenal’s midfielders in the numbers games. Add to that the versatility of the Ivorian and his capability of playing as a box-to-box midfielder and he becomes the perfect fit in the Gunners midfield.
