Arsenal title hopes were given a denting blow as they suffered a shock defeat the hand of Watford at home. This was Watford’s first away win of the season and it came at the expense of a lazy Gunners side.

Two up within a flash:

Watford scored two goals within a span of 3 minutes early in the first half to shock Arsenal. The first goal came on the 10th minute through Kaboul whose shot took a deflection through Aaron Ramsey and beat Petr Cech. And even before Arsenal could recover from the shock they were hit with another goal. This time Deeney scored from a rebound after Cech had saved a shot from Capoue.

Arsenal pull one back:

Arsenal managed to pull one back in the 58th minute thanks to Alex Iwobi and was assisted by Sanchez. But Arsenal missed a few good chances to go level in the match. And ultimately they paid the price by dropping three crucial points at home. Watford managed to hold on to their narrow lead to win all three points.

On the other hand, this was Arsenal’s golden chance to move closer to the number one spot. Especially after Chelsea having drawn their game against Liverpool. But now this shock defeat means they go down to the third position behind London rivals Tottenham but only on goal difference.

In the next match, Arsenal face league leaders Chelsea. And they will be hoping to make amends for this loss.
