Newcastle United have finally been taken over by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and as a result of a ripple effect, clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham could be the worst affected by this.

The new owners are obviously going to pump in crazy amounts of money into the club and according to pundit Alan Brazil, if the two North London clubs do not pull up their socks then they could suffer a really harsh fate in the coming seasons.

Brazil said on talkSPORT: “It is going to take a while as far as I am concerned. You can’t just suddenly go and spend a billion quid, you can’t.

“Academies, getting the right players in, getting the right managers in and getting people away from London and Manchester to live in Newcastle.

“Don’t forget Arsenal and Tottenham, they will have to up their game now.

“Then there is Everton with Mr Usmanov, he has got billions. Tottenham and Arsenal have to be so careful.”

Will Arsenal and Spurs slide down the ladder in the PL?

Arsenal and Tottenham are in a major rebuilding phase so the Newcastle United takeover could not have come at a worse time for them.

Both these sides are struggling to get back into the Champions League and there’s a big chance they are going to miss out on the top-four this season as well.

And if NUFC can remodel themselves quick enough then the two North London sides might very well be transformed into mid-table sides.

Right now, Arsenal are 11th while Spurs are 8th on the Premier League table and their performances do not seem to be on the rise. They have been showing sparks of brilliance but there’s no real consistency in their gameplay.

Newcastle United will obviously take some time to figure everything out but if they can manage to become the Man City 2.0 then it’s Arsenal and Spurs who are in immediate danger of falling behind.

Both Nuno and Mikel Arteta has been under the scanner this season but as things stand the respective boards are fully backing them so they will have to pull the rabbit out of the hat sooner than later.
