Arsenal v/s City : Wenger has job on the line

0

Arsenal take on Manchester City in a high profile clash this weekend. And this could very well be Arsene Wenger’s make or break tie. Wenger has been under immense pressure to resign as the Gunner’s manager. The supporters have been vocal about the fact that they want Wenger to step down. And the rebellion is growing louder and stronger after each dismal performance. But the men who matter the most, the Gunners Board members, are standing firmly behind their manager. And they are all but ready to offer the Frenchman a new contract at the end of the summer.

But if Arsenal keep putting out such disappointing performances then the board will at one point have to surrender to the fans’ demands. And this big clash against the blue half of the Manchester giants will play a huge role in determining Wenger’s future. City, on the other hand, are all but out of the title race. They are 12 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea and they only have the top 4 to play for.

Arsenal team news:

Ahead of the match, Arsenal’s biggest concern was definitely Alexis Sanchez who was doubtful with an ankle injury. But the Gunner’s boss has confirmed that Sanchez is available to play this Sunday. Wenger is also missing some of his important first team players like Petr Cech and Santi Carzola. While Petr Cech is expected to return next weekend, Sant Carzola is a long-term absentee owing to an achilles.

Man City team news:

Pep Guardiola also has some injury concerns of his own. Both Kevin De Bruyne and Sagna are doubtful for Sunday’s clash owing to a groin strain. He is also missing the services of summer signings Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus. While Gundogan will be out of action for at least another 6 months, Jesus’s return date is still unsure.
