The Arsenal vs Liverpool game is going to be the penultimate match of the Carabao Cup semi-final and originally it’s supposed to be played on Thursday night.

The 2nd leg eventually became the 1st leg due to a reported COVID outbreak in the Liverpool squad and as per some sources, the 2nd leg might also be postponed – this time due to Arsenal’s woes.

The North London Derby on Sunday was deferred because Arsenal did not have the required number of players to name a matchday squad and as per the reports Thursday’s game could also have the same fate.

Martin Odegaard is the only Arsenal player who is currently affected by COVID but Mikel Arteta also have another dozen players who are missing.

Players like Pepe and Thomas Partey have gone for the AFCON while others like Cedric and Tomiyasu are out with injuries. To make matters worse, midfielder Granit Xhaka picked up a red card in the 1st leg so he’s suspended this week.

Arsenal need to name a match-day squad of 13 players including one goalkeeper and with so many players missing, it would be really hard for the manager to name a strong starting line up.

Since the Premier League have already postponed the North London Derby there was every chance that the Arsenal vs Liverpool could be delayed as well. But as per Goal, the 2nd leg of the semi-final will go ahead as planned.

Charles Watt is claiming that Martin Odegaard has returned to training while players like Bukayo Saka and Kieran Tierney will be back to full fitness in time despite picking up knocks last week.

Also, there have been no fresh COVID cases in the previous 48 hours and the Gunners are confident that Thursday’s game will go ahead.

With so many games already piling up, it will actually be great that the Arsenal vs Liverpool game will be wrapped up in time. Chelsea have already qualified for the final by beating Spurs meaning if the Arsenal vs Liverpool were to be postponed then it would have been an utter mess(with an international break coming up).
