On Saturday, Arsenal will have the chance to inflict Liverpool’s first defeat of the season when they take on Jurgen Klopp’s men at the Emirates.
Liverpool are tied on points with league leaders Manchester City but sit second on the league table based on goal difference while Arsenal are fourth on the table with 22 points.
The Gunners did start the new season with an awful run of form but since then Unai Emery has gotten hold of the reign and suddenly the London outfit are looking title contenders for this season.
Yes, Liverpool will go into this weekend’s game as the favourites but no one expects that the Reds will come back home with three easy points.
And Liverpool legend and current pundit Michael Owen has given his predictions for the Arsenal vs Liverpool clash on Saturday.
“Arsenal’s long winning run came to an end at Selhurst Park on Sunday and this is their first game against a “big six” club since their losses to Manchester City and Chelsea at the beginning of the season,” wrote Owen in his predictions for BetVictor.
“The Gunners have not led at halftime in any of their PL games so far this season and they will need to be at the top of their game from the off against a Liverpool side who will try and hit the hosts hard on the break.
“A big game for both clubs – Arsenal will move to within a point of the Reds with a win, but the gap will be seven if Jurgen Klopp’s side take the points. A Liverpool win for me.”
Liverpool so far has won eight games in the Premier League while Arsenal have managed to pick up seven wins. But it was those two defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea at the start of the season which have pushed Arsenal down the league table.
