Arsenal are very much interested in signing West Ham United’s Declan Rice in the summer but according to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are keeping tabs on two other midfielders as well.

Rice obviously remains their number-one target for the upcoming transfer window but Romano is claiming that the Gunners want to sign multiple central midfielders.

In January, Arsenal had made contact with Brighton for Moises Caicedo and they will go for him again at the end of the season. The transfer expert has added that Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is also on their radar.

“Romeo Lavia is attracting very important interest. He is a top talent as a midfielder. Let me say one thing, the buy-back clause for Manchester City is in the contract starting from summer 2024, not now, this is why Man City do not have full control over Lavia this upcoming summer,” Romano said on his Youtube channel.

“Other clubs are interested, Arsenal are keeping an eye on the player, Arsenal are following Romeo Lavia, at the moment it’s nothing advanced. Remember my words, Caicedo remains a target after the discussions they had during the January transfer window. Caicedo is in the list again at Arsenal and Romeo Lavia is a player they are following.”

Do Arsenal need three new midfielders next season?

Mikel Arteta has managed to strengthen almost every department but the midfield region still lacks depth.

Elneny has hardly played this season so all the pressure has landed on the shoulders of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. The pair have done really well so far but there’s no way they can do it season after season.

Thomas Partey has become really injury-prone since moving to England and if Xhaka was to get injured at the same time then it will be game over for Arsenal.

The interest in Declan Rice is a no-brainer but we can understand why the Gunners are targeting Caicedo and Lavia as well.

Romeo Lavia has done really well since joining Southampton last year but we think if Arsenal can get their hands on Caicedo then they will ditch their interest in the Saints man.

After Rice, Moises Caicedo will be the Gunners’ next biggest target because the 21-year-old is much more experienced and trustworthy when it comes to regular performances. Several other clubs are interested in the Brighton man which is probably why Mikel Arteta has added Romeo Lavia to his wishlist as well.
