Julian Draxler to Arsenal

Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their chase for PSG misfit Julian Draxler as the possible replacement to Mesut Ozil next season – as per a report in Fussball Transfers.

This is not the first time the Gunners have been linked with the German international but as per the rumours, Mikel Arteta is really serious about bringing him on since the club have decided to part ways with loanee Dani Ceballos as well.

The report claims: “When it comes to Paris St. Germain, the time together with Julian Draxler should come to an end this summer. PSG is desperately looking for a customer for the 26-year-old, who has never really got beyond the role of substitute player since he changed in 2017.

“Basically there is a market for the 51-times national player. Arsenal and another Premier League club have also reached out to Draxler for FT information.”

Draxler joined PSG from Wolfsburg in 2017 but all he’s done is warm the benches at the club and it’s pretty clear the 26-year-old does not fit into the long-term plans of his manager Thomas Tuchel.

The player has got just over a year left on his current deal meaning the Gunners can get him for cheap which is just the type of players that Mikel Arteta is currently looking for.

Why Arsenal will miss out on Julian Draxler:

Draxler will undoubtedly be a great signing for the Premier League club but we think, the Gunners will not be able to get their hands on the playmaker.

As per the latest updates, the Ligue 1 club have already lined up a move for the German international in the summer.

PSG currently have Mauro Icardi on loan from Inter Milan and are eager to make this deal permanent before the next season begins. And in a bid to do so, Tuchel is ready to send Julian Draxler the other way.

Inter are quoting around €70 million for Icardi which is a really steep price for the Argentine and that is why PSG are offering Draxler as part of a swap deal in hopes that the Nerazzurri will lower their demands.

So as things stand, even if Arsenal were ready to pay the full amount for Draxler we doubt if PSG will be willing to send the midfielder to England.
