Man United have been keeping tabs on Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish for over a year now and many reports had claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was interested in making a move for him this month.
Grealish has picked up where he left off last season and after 15 games, the 25-year-old has scored five and assisted nine goals in the Premier League. Multiple sources have claimed that Man United will try and sign Grealish before the January transfer window comes to a close but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to let slip any secrets.
“I don’t want to say too much about other teams’ players but of course he’s a player we know we have to look for,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on New Year’s Day.
“He’s a player for Aston Villa and England who has only improved. The goal he scored last season was a brilliant goal and we’ve faced him enough times to know it’s going to be a difficult game.”
A fresh report in the Daily Mail, however, is making a contradictory claim saying that the Aston Villa owners are not keen to part ways with Grealish during the middle of such an important season.
The report in the Daily Mail claims: “Aston Villa plan to dismiss any approaches for Jack Grealish during the January transfer window despite renewed interest from leading clubs.
“Both United and Manchester City continue to follow Grealish’s progress with interest, and he has also attracted attention abroad
“But Sportsmail understands there is little prospect of Villa entertaining bids for their talisman this month.”
Aston Villa have been in top form during the 2020-21 season and there’s every bit chance they qualify for Europe next season. So there’s no way Dean Smith will want to sell Jack Grealish now and nullify those aspirations.
So if Manchester United are serious about signing the England international they’ll have to wait until the end of the season.
