FC Barcelona might be in massive debt but they are still being linked with some top players, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being the latest one.

Current rumours are suggesting that Barcelona want to sign the Gabon international this summer and they are ready to offer Philippe Coutinho in a swap deal to Arsenal.

Arsenal are already in the hunt for a new No 10 so this offer will be really lucrative for them but according to Sky Sports’ Jessica Creighton, Barcelona are nowhere close to signing Aubameyang.

Jessica said on Transfer Talk: “The deal for Barcelona to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal isn’t simple. As it stands, we don’t even know if Arsenal would be willing to sell him.

“It was only last summer that he signed a new lucrative three-year contract, and we know that Barcelona are in financial difficulty at the moment.

“They’re in upwards of £1bn worth of debt, and it’s not just the transfer fee but the player’s big wages that Barcelona would have to cover.

“Perhaps if they offloaded Philippe Coutinho then they would be able to afford Aubameyang, but I do worry about the striker given the form he’s been in since signing that new Arsenal contract.”

Arsenal are almost on the verge of bringing back Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid so that will end their pursuit of an attacking midfielder. As per the major publications in England, the deal could be wrapped up by the end of this week.

Also, the Gunners had tried really hard to make Aubameyang sign a new contract so the last thing Mikel Arteta will want is to let him leave in such haste.

Aubameyang is not going to move out this summer, not at least to Barcelona – a club who had to ask their players to take a wage cut so they can register their summer signings.
