Manchester United are about to wrap up the signing of defender Raphael Varane and according to Gabby Agbonlahor, this deal opens the doors for Aston Villa to sign Axel Tuanzebe.

As per the latest reports, United are expected to complete the signing of the Real Madrid defender by the end of this week and once the Frenchman arrives, Ole will start clearing all the deadwood.

Agbonlahor believes Aston Villa(a club who have been linked with Tuanzebe) have a great chance of landing the 23-year-old centre-back in the coming days.

Asked if Villa now have the chance to sign Tuanzebe, Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “Definitely.

“For the sake of his own career, he has to leave. He’s been there for too long now and not got a starting place, he plays the odd game.

“Sometimes you need to leave a big club, go and play and have a career. I’m sure that’s something Axel’s thinking about now with Varane coming in.

“There’s [Victor] Lindelof and [Eric] Bailly still there so he’s going to be fifth-choice centre-back.

“For me, it’s definitely something that Aston Villa can try and get done. I’m sure they can get a lesser fee because Manchester United will want to get him out of the club if he’s not going to play.”

Will Man United let Axel Tuanzebe leave?

Axel Tuanzebe spent some time on loan at Aston Villa, playing 30 Championship games for the side and since the 23-year-old has just entered the final 12 months of his contract, it only makes sense that he is allowed to leave.

Villa are hoping to sign the defender for a cut-price deal but as per Sky Sports, Man United are planning to offer him a new deal.

Solskjaer knows the potential Tuanzebe has which is why the Man United boss is only ready to send him out on a loan deal but not before he puts pen on paper to a new contract.

United have spent a lot of money during the ongoing transfer window which is why they are refusing to lose players as free agents now.

We don’t see why Axel Tuanzebe will not sign a new deal and since he is currently valued at £7 million, even after a fresh contract, Aston Villa should be able to sign him for a significant bargain value.
