Barcelona have just seen a bid rejected for RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo despite them meeting the club’s recent valuation.
RB Leipzig reportedly want around €60 million for their star midfielder and that’s exactly what Barcelona have offered for Olmo. However, as per Diario SPORT, Barca’s fee structure is supposedly the major problem.
While Leipzig wants €60 million outright for the midfielder Barcelona have reportedly offered an initial amount of €40 million plus €20 million in add-ons. It’s no secret that signing Dani Olmo is one of Barcelona’s priorities this summer, but it’s also clear that the club currently does not have the finances to see this one through.
Will Manchester City pull ahead of Barca in the signing of Dani Olmo?
According to journalist Philipp Hinze, RB Leipzig have made it clear that Barcelona will have to significantly improve their offer if they wish to sign Dani Olmo.
Manchester City are yet to make any sort of concrete offers for the Spanish midfielder but if Barcelona take so long to get this deal through then there’s every chance that City are going to overshadow them.
Paying €60 million is no big deal for a club like City and if Pep Guardiola wants to add a new attacking midfielder to his fold then Barca will be in serious trouble.
The Catalans have held talks with Olmo’s agents and both parties are happy to see the midfielder return to Camp Nou but he is not going to wait until eternity.
Manchester City might be moving slowly in this transfer race but as per Foot Mercato, the reigning Premier League champions are planning to challenge Barcelona for Dani Olmo. Olmo might be keen to join Barcelona but playing for a team like MCFC won’t be too bad an idea for him.
Barcelona are still somewhat the favourites to sign him up but that’s not for long because if they cannot gather the necessary €60 million soon enough then RB Leipzig won’t hesitate to send Dani Olmo to England. Most transfer experts believe that since Barca are working on a very tight budget, they will first try and bring Nico Williams on board and only then will they seriously go for Dani Olmo.
