Man United attacking midfielder is more or less certain to leave the club at the end of the season after spending five and a half years with the club.

And last week a couple of reports had claimed that the Spaniard could be joining Barcelona as a free agent.

During January, Juan Mata had claimed that he missed his friends and family in Spain but he doubts if he would ever go back.

‘I’ve been in England for a while. It’s true that at times you miss home, your family, your friends,’ he said(as quoted by the Metro).

‘But I don’t know if I’ll return to Spain in the near future. ‘I’m calm, I’m at the fantastic club that is Manchester United, one of the biggest in the world.’

But last week it was suggested that Barcelona are interested in offering the Spaniard a short-term deal since the management feel that Juan Mata is a luxury to have on the substitutes bench.

Now though it looks like that deal has fallen through.

As per reports, Juan Mata’s dad who is also his agent has met with Barcelona’s representatives but the Catalans do not look too interested in taking the talks forwards.

And as per the news, the only reason is that Barcelona feel that they already have a good number of players who play the same role as Juan Mata.

There have also been rumours that Man United are willing to offer Juan Mata a new deal as they want to keep him at the club so that the Spaniard could become a club ambassador once he retires from professional football.
