Bayern host Darmstadt at home today in the Allianz Arena and it is set to be an emotional game for the Bayern fans. No, not because they won the league. They do that almost every year. But because Philipp Lahm is going to play his final three games as a Bayern Munich player.

Lahm who will retire at the end of the season is all set to receive a grand ovation from the Bayern fans. He has been a great servant to the club and everyone will be heartbroken to see him leave.

Talking about the match though, Bayern opposition is in the last position of the league table and it should be a walk in the park for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski has managed to score more goals this season than the entire Darmstadt team put together. So technically, Bayern should not even break a sweat to pick up all three points.

Now coming back to Lahm. Philipp Lahm made his first senior appearance for Bayern Munich in the year 2002. And since then he has gone on to make over 500 appearances for Bayern.

Lahm has more than 500 appearances for Bayern.

Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti has also showered praises on the soon-to-depart player. He recently said in a press conference that Lahm was the most professional footballer that he has come across in his coaching career. And he hoped that he could get the chance to work with “20 Philipp Lahms”

It looks as if Lahm is a player who has been loved and respected by almost every manager of his. Ex-manager Pep Guardiola also once said that Lahm is the most intelligent footballer that he as ever worked with. And as the season comes to a close, Lahm has decided to step down at the age of 33. We hope that both Bayern and the footballing world finds another genius like him
