Arsenal have paid £50 million for Ben White this summer but he’s looked a bit shaky during his first few matches for the Gunners.

Everyone was shocked when Arsenal paid so much for the 23-year-old central defender and obviously, this price tag means everyone wants him to deliver instantly.

But according to Jamie Redknapp, the Arsenal fans will need to be tolerant as he will come good with time.

He told Sky Sports, as per Football London: “He can’t save Arsenal on his own, and Arsenal fans need to have patience with this guy he’s not necessarily a leading centre-back, he plays alongside someone who will go and head the ball and he’ll sweep up alongside him.

“Be patient with him, he’s going to be fantastic.

“The pressure at Arsenal is huge right now, and he’s one for the long-term.”

Ben White has a current market value of just £25 million so obviously, Arsenal have massively overpaid for the ex-Brighton defender.

Arsenal are in an utter mess right now and since White has contracted COVID, the team’s problems have been amplified even more.

The price tag doesn’t make things easier for the defender and if Ben White wants to make a positive impact then one of the first things which Mikel Arteta has to do is to make sure that his defensive partner is solid.

Gabriel is yet to feature for Arsenal this season and Pablo Mari looked all over the place against Chelsea. He was tormented by Lukaku so badly that the manager pushed him to the bench against Manchester City.

It’s pretty clear Gabriel will be the long-term partner for Ben White but having said that the pair will need to be given some time to get in sync and deliver positive results in defence.
