Manchester United and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Benjamin Sesko but as per The Telegraph, it’s Arsenal who are currently leading the pack right now.

Benjamin Sesko has been in top form for RB Leipzig this season and he initially had a release clause of just €49 million but after meeting several clauses, his release clause has now risen up to €75 million. However, this steep price has not inflated the hopes of all the interested clubs.

Man United wish to bring in someone who can play in tandem with young Rasmus Hojlund and share his goal-scoring burden while Chelsea want an upgrade to Nicolas Jackson because Romelu Lukaku is not coming back into the squad.

Arsenal will offload both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah at the end of this season so Mikel Arteta is on the lookout for a new striker. With 13 goals in 30 league games, Benjamin Sesko can be the ideal solution but as per the rumours, the Gunners are yet to make up their mind on whether they should invest all their energy on the 20-year-old or not.

Can Benjamin Sesko be the ideal signing for Arsenal?

This is his first season with RB Leipzig since joining from sister club RB Salzburg and in 41 overall appearances, the youngster has scored 17 goals.

He has an xG of 7.42 and his 13 league goals have come from just 23 shots on target. The 20-year-old has had 96 touches in the opposition box and he’s completed more than 50% of his dribbles.

Sesko is a force to be reckoned with inside the box but his link-up play is not that great which is why we think Arsenal would be much better off investing in Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres is supposedly target number one for the Gunners and he will be the ideal replacement for Gabriel Jesus. The Sporting man has not only scored 27 league goals this season but he’s also chipped in with 10 assists.

His release clause is obviously higher than Sesko’s but the 25-year-old is a more finished product.

Benjamin Sesko is still only 20 so he’s still growing and learning but Mikel Arteta cannot afford to sign someone who will need time to settle down in the Premier League. He needs a proper leader who can chip in with 25-plus goals and double-digit assists next season and Sesko is just not cut out for that kind of job.

At €49 million, the youngster would have been a no-brainer singing but splurging around €75 million on him will be a major gamble.
