Manchester City are still favourites to defend their Premier League title this time around but unlike last season, it is not going to be a one-horse race.

Last season, Manchester City were outright winners of the league but this campaign, clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs are all within touching distance of Pep Guardiola’s men.

City suffered their first defeat of the season this past weekend when they lost to Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge which meant Liverpool have now moved to the top of the league table.

Liverpool are two points clear at the top but they might once again slip down to the second spot by the end of the next weekend since they will be taking on Manchester United on Sunday.

But former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes that apart from Liverpool there are a few other clubs who can still compete for the Premier League title this season.

“Liverpool are a big rival for Man City,” Berbatov told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday.

“We don’t like that but you need to give credit. They’re playing great football. They enjoy the way they play. It is good for the league.

“Now you have Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal all in the race.”

Arsenal are currently on an unbeaten run of 21 games but the big problem for them is the fact that they are now eight points behind the league leaders which is a fairly big gap to claw down.

Chelsea suffered some setbacks during the past couple of weeks but with the win against Manchester City they have brought their title challenge back on track.
