Bernardo Silva wanted by Barcelona

According to Defensa Central, Spanish giants Real Madrid want to sign Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva during the summer window.

Bernardo Silva wanted to leave the club last summer but a move was eventually not possible. Since then, the Portuguese international has reclaimed his place in the side playing in 26 Premier League games and scoring seven goals.

Many would have thought that Silva will be happy with his life at City but it looks like he still wants to leave the club once the current season comes to an end.

Will Man City allow Bernardo Silva to leave in the summer?

Silva has played in 236 games for Manchester City to date, scoring 45 goals and going by his performances this season one would imagine that he is a key player for Pep Guardiola.

He’s played in several positions this season so his versatility is a big asset to the club but then several other City forwards are equally versatile. Players like Sterling, Mahrez and Foden can all play in multiple positions across the forward line.

Bernardo Silva’s current deal with Man City expires in 2025 so Guardiola is in no hurry to sell the 27-year-old. But City are planning to sign a world-class centre-forward in the summer and for that, they will need funds and also clear space.

If someone like Harry Kane or Haaland is coming in then there will be one less space in the starting line up meaning there’s every chance that Bernardo Silva will be allowed to leave.

Are Real Madrid serious about signing Bernardo Silva?

Bernardo Silva is primarily a midfielder but he can play as a winger or a false nine as well but we think Madrid are seeing him as an attacking midfielder.

Madrid’s midfield is massively aged and players like Toni Kroos and Modric have been running on fumes this season. Modric especially is 36 years old so he will need replacing in the summer and we think Madrid are looking at Bernardo Silva his long-term replacement. The futures of Isco, Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio are also uncertain so it makes perfect sense that Madrid want to sign the Man City wizard.

Silva is currently valued at €76 million and since he still has three years left on his contract meaning Man City will not let him leave for cheap. Real Madrid though are not planning to make any big-money signings(Mbappe will come as a free agent) meaning they can very comfortably make a move for Bernardo Silva.
