Bernd Leno is undoubtedly going to fall down the pecking order at Arsenal this season after the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale which is why he could be on his way out in January.
This season, the keeper has played in three Premier League games conceding nine goals and as the season rolls along, the 29-year-old is going to become the second choice keeper at the Emirates.
And just when Bernd Leno was contemplating his future, the latest reports are suggesting that Serie A side Inter Milan are interested in signing him in January.
FCInterNews cites Christian Falk writing, as translated: “Christian Falk is one of the German Bild journalists closest to Bayern Munich.
“In a tweet published this morning, the reporter reports important news in an Inter key. The Nerazzurri club is interested, writes Falk, in a transfer of Bernd Leno in the winter.
“The 29-year-old German international goalkeeper has so far played 3 games in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup in 2021 / ’22 with Arsenal, conceding nine goals.”
Will Arsenal let Bernd Leno leave in January?
While Arsenal are not actively looking to part ways with Bernd Leno at the start of the next year but as per the buzz in the England media, Arteta will not stop him from leaving, if a good offer comes their way.
The Gunners have Karl Hein and Arthur Okonkwo as backups so even if Leno decides to move out in January, it will not be the end of the world for the Gunners. This means if Inter can come up with a lucrative offer then signing him should not be a problem.
The 29-year-old has two more years left on his current deal and his current market value is £19.8 million, something which Inter Milan should be able to afford.
Arsenal spent £25 million to sign Aaron Ramsdale in the summer so if they can recoup around £18-19 million of that by selling Leno then Mikel Arteta will not think twice about sanctioning a sale in January.
