There have been talks about a British Super League which will include the Scottish Premiership sides Celtic and Rangers FC. But according to Andy Goldstein, the new league will do these sides no good.

Over the past 24 hours, there have been reports in the United Kingdom that the authorities might be planning an all-British league that will allow the Glasgow giants to play alongside the big names of the English Premier League.

One source told The Sun, that the current English top division structure needs to altered: “Whether or not the Super League was going to happen, we all feel that the Premier League has to be changed and improved.

“It is time we opened it up to Rangers and Celtic. That would make sense for everyone.”

A number of Scottish fans have grown really excited with this news since a chance to play against clubs like Liverpool and Man United on a regular basis will not only ensure a larger audience base but will also help pool in a lot of revenue.

But according to talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein, both Rangers & Celtic will not be able to put this money to good use.

He told talkSPORT: “What makes Rangers or Celtic fans think just because they’re playing Premier League football, a superstar will be attracted to those clubs?

“You’ve still got to live in Scotland. If you look predominantly, London is where all the big stars go.

“If you look at clubs based further north than Manchester and Liverpool, for argument’s sake Newcastle and Sunderland, the further up north you go, the more difficult it is to attract big-name players.

“That’s a fact. Just because Rangers and Celtic have got money… if a big player like Kylian Mbappe becomes available, you’ve got the choice to live in Scotland [or London].

“Just because they’ll be playing Premier League football, that has no relevance to whether or not they’ll be successful.”

We can help but agree with him on this one since the big stars or even the young upcoming talents will choose to join a top-level Premier League rather than join Celtic or Rangers.

Right now, a handful of young players opt to play in Scotland just to sharpen their skills since the level of competition in this tournament is not that great. But once the two Old Firm clubs join the big English sides, it’s quite obvious where these young talents will be heading to.

And as far as the big stars are concerned, there’s no way they will be choosing a move to Glasgow since money is not the only factor that helps determine a top-quality player’s next possible destination.
