Burnley made a losing start to their Premier League campaign, going down 2-1 to Brighton. And things are just going to get tougher from here as they take on Liverpool, away from home on Saturday.

Surprisingly, the Clarets are in a pretty good position when it comes to facing Liverpool at Anfield since last season, it was Burnley who ended Liverpool’s 68-game unbeaten run at home courtesy of a 1-0 victory.

Things though will not be so easy this time around since Liverpool have gotten back all their injured players plus Sean Dyche’s men were pretty average when it came to finishing off chances against the Seagulls.

The manager is expected to stick with a similar 4-4-2 system on Saturday and given the physical brand of football that Burnley play, it will surely be a test for Liverpool’s defence, especially the returning Van Dijk and Joel Matip.

Burnley team news vs Liverpool:

Tarkowski scored Burnley’s only goal of the match against Brighton but his 2nd-minute strike was not enough for the Turf Moor side to clinch three points. The 28-year-old will be partnered by Ben Mee in central defence.

The pair of Jack Cork and Ashley Westwood did a pretty decent job in the middle of the pitch against Brighton so the manager should put his faith in them this weekend at Anfield.

Dwight McNeil operated down the left wing while Gudmundsson worked down the other flank in that 2-1 loss and the two players are going to keep their place in the starting line-up this time around as well.

Ashley Barnes came off the bench in matchweek one and he will be pushing for a start this time around. He can play up front and also as a link between the midfield and the forwards, something which could be really helpful to break down the Liverpool back line.

But we have a feeling Sean Dyche is going to choose Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez up front on Saturday. Matej Vydra is another player who came off the bench against Brighton and will once again have to be content with a place on the bench.

Dale Stephens and Kevin Long both remain long-term absentees so they will not be available for selection.

Burnley predicted line-up vs Liverpool:

Predicted XI(4-4-2): Nick Pope; Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Lowton; Cork, Ashley Westwood, Dwight McNeil, Gudmundsson; Rodriguez, Wood.
