Chelsea receive a significant injury boost before they face Liverpool in midweek

Chelsea take on Liverpool in the English Premier League this midweek at Anfield and forward Callum Hudson-Odoi should be fit enough to feature in this key match.

The youngster picked up a slight knock during the Blues’ 0-0 draw vs Man United on Sunday and had to be taken off at half-time. While Tuchel maintained that the change was more due to tactical reasons but shortly afterwards, he was seen with an ice pack on his leg.

This immediately put his selection vs Liverpool at risk but according to the Daily Star, Callum Hudson-Odoi should be available for selection as his injury is not too serious.

The report claims: “Callum Hudson-Odoi is expected to be fit for Chelsea’s Premier League showdown against Liverpool this Thursday.

“The Blues winger came off with a thigh injury in Sunday’s goalless draw with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

“Tuchel will take no chances with the England youngster ahead of Thursday’s trip to Anfield to face the reigning champions, who are struggling of late.

“But the Blues remain optimistic that Hudson-Odoi will not be forced to miss the clash with Jurgen Klopp’s side.”

Callum Hudson-Odoi has seen a lot of game time under new manager Thomas Tuchel and right now, he’s playing as the right wing-back for Chelsea.

If the winger is 100% fit then he will surely be named in the starting XI in midweek at Anfield but we don’t think the manager will want to take too many risks with him. Reece James is the ideal backup for that role so Tuchel will not hesitate to rest Callum Hudson-Odoi for a few more days.
