Adnan Januzaj Real Sociedad vs Man United

Man United take on Real Sociedad in the Round of 32 in the Europa League on Thursday and former United man Adnan Januzaj will get a chance to face his former side.

Adnan Januzaj was shaping up to be one of the bigger stars at Man United after Sir Alex had left. But the youngster, unfortunately, failed to live up to the hype and after a few unsuccessful loan spells, he was eventually sold to Real Sociedad back in 2017.

And speaking about the first leg, United legend Paul Scholes has singled out the 26-year-old claiming that the former academy graduate could be the difference in Turin.

Scholes told “The talent no doubt was there. It’s still there, he’s doing really well at Sociedad. I think it’s been a good change for him.

“He showed glimpses when he first came into United’s first team, that he had the ability that we all knew he had. For some reason it just didn’t work out and he’s had to go elsewhere, but he’s a really talented player and somebody we’re really going to have to watch on Thursday, along with David Silva obviously.

“Adnan’s got great ability. He can go past people, he’s got a lovely left foot. He can score goals, create goals, so we’ll have to be careful with him.

“I’m glad he’s done well. He’s a good lad, who tries his best all the time, great attitude. I hope he does well at Sociedad, but not too well this Thursday.”

Adnan Januzaj had a breakthrough season with Man United in 2013 but then he failed to build on his initial progress. But he has somewhat turned things around ever since he’s joined the La Liga side.

During the 2020-21 season, the winger has played in 14 La Liga games so far, scoring two and assisting two goals.

Most of these appearances might have come off the bench but we expect Adnan Januzaj to start on the right wing in midweek since him along with David Silva had more than a decent outing in that side of the pitch when Real Sociedad beat Getafe 1-0 on Sunday.
