Arsenal along with Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in signing Brighton and Hover Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo and as per a report in Fichajes, the Gunners are ready to make a move.

The report is claiming that Arsenal are keen to move ahead of the other suitors as they are now willing to make their first formal offer for the midfielder which is expected to be in the range of around €60 million.

Mikel Arteta has been using Xhaka and Partey in central midfield and the pair has been mighty successful this season but the reality is that Arsenal have very little depth in that area of the pitch. Someone like Moises Caicedo will be a great addition to the squad but we highly doubt if €60 million will get the job done.

According to reports in Ecuador, Liverpool have already seen a €70 million bid rejected for the midfielder just a couple of days ago. Brighton want nothing less than €80 million for the 21-year-old and if this news is true then Arsenal are way off the valuation.

Another major stumbling block for the Gunners will be the fact that Chelsea manager Graham Potter has a very good relationship with Caicedo so he will definitely use his influence to try and sign him up.

Newcastle United have also done remarkably well under Eddie Howe and a move to St James’ Park will at least guarantee him regular playing time.

Liverpool are expected to make an improved bid in the coming weeks meaning Arsenal will have to be swift in their dealings. An offer of €60 million will most certainly be rejected by the Seagulls which is why Edu and Arteta will have to offer a transfer fee that Brighton won’t be able to push aside.

Brighton are in no hurry to offload Moises Caicedo because his current deal with the club expires in 2025 so they can very easily wait until the summer. However, the 21-year-old has played in only 26 games for the club since his arrival so if Brighton can get around €75-78 million for him, we think they will allow him to move out in January itself.
